Overall Assessment

From the time any of the required tests are begun, it is possible to make an accurate assessment of the likely cause of the difficulty in conceiving within six weeks. For some cases, more specialised tests would need to be performed, increasing the time taken. Having achieved a diagnosis, a couple with their clinician's help, should be in a position to decide whether active treatment is required. In some cases, it may be reasonable to put off treatment for a short time to see whether a pregnancy will occur naturally but as previously mentioned, it is important to bear in mind the age of the female partner.
