Fertility Support Counselling
To discover that one cannot conceive a child as one's parents and friends is a devastating experience.
This realisation can cause immense pain, confusion and distress and it can often be difficult to talk to one's partner. Each may try to protect the other from their own feelings, so that both come to feel very alone. This is when counselling can be of help.
Counselling can be sought at any stage of treatment. Some couples may wish to talk over their feelings regarding the procedures in the treatment programme and any implications for themselves or their hoped-for child.
Others may wish to talk to the Counsellor as the treatment progresses because there can be a build-up of anxieties. Not unnaturally, the couple will alternate from hopeful feelings to feelings of despair that they will not achieve the longed-for baby.
The Counsellor may also be able to help couples cope with the lack of pregnancy and at times, perhaps help them adjust their expectations and to accept their situation.
The counselling takes place in a comfortable, quiet environment and is completely confidential. The £30 charge for the first counselling session is paid for by the Unit. The rate for any further session is negotiable with the Counsellor herself. You may contact Lesley Rose on
